10. Defibrillator vest tracks heart rhythm and delivers shocks when needed
Zoll’s LifeVest is a wearable defibrillator that is designed for patients who are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
The LifeVest protects and monitors a patient’s heart with dry, non-adhesive sensing electrodes to detect any life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms, according to the company.
If the wearable defibrillator detects a life-threatening rhythm, it will alert the patient before it delivers a treatment shock. Alerting the patient gives them the opportunity to delay the shock. If they become unconscious, the wearable releases a Zoll Blue gel over the therapy electrodes and delivers a shock to restore normal rhythm.
