Parylene is the name for members of a unique family of polymer conformal coatings. Due to their vapor-phase deposition, Parylenes can be formed as continuous films from as thin as several hundred angstroms to 75 microns, making the coatings an ideal ultra-thin solution to protect medical devices and components, including stents, pacemakers, catheters, neurostimulation devices, needles, ocular and cochlear implants, etc. Among their beneficial properties, Parylenes provide excellent moisture, chemical and dielectric barrier properties as well as low coefficients of friction. Additionally, SCS Parylenes are biocompatible, biostable and sterilizable.

SCS thrives on providing innovative solutions for customers. From highly experienced sales engineers and some of the world’s foremost Parylene specialists to expert manufacturing personnel, every aspect of every project is in extremely capable hands.

The SCS team is backed by state-of-the-art resources. World-class Parylene facilities offer a full range of capabilities — from FTIR spectroscopy and surface treatment plasma processing to all aspects of substrate preparation and coatings testing. Once a coating solution is developed to meet customer specifications, the process moves into production at one (or more) regional coating facilities around the world.

No one understands or engineers Parylenes better than SCS. We have over 45 years of experience providing Parylene conformal coatings and technologies to customers around the world. What’s more, SCS and/or SCS Parylene coatings comply with numerous standards and certifications; several are highlighted below.

  • AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified coating centers
  • ISO 10993 and USP Class VI certifications
  • U.S. FDA Device and Drug Master Files
  • IPC-CC-830 requirements
  • QPL listing for MIL-I-46058C
  • UL (QMJU2) recognized
