LPKF Laser & Electronics is promoting the advantages of laser plastic welding for medical device manufacturers.
LPKF will present its laser systems solutions for the medical device industry at the 2017 MD&M West Expo in Anaheim, Calif. on Feb. 7–9.
The bonding of plastic with focused laser radiation, known as laser plastic welding, is ideal for the medical device industry because it has hygienic, particle-free processing and clean-room compatibility, according to LPKF. It has the potential to be used in microfluidic devices, catheters and IV tubing.
LPKF will also present UV laser depaneling at MD&M West. UV laser depaneling is used for medical electronics applications with sensitive components because of its software-controlled method of removing circuits from panels. Traditional mechanical depaneling, such as routing or dicing, damages the components.
LPKF will be in booth 1650 at MD&M West at the Anaheim Convention Center.
