Founded in 1927 by J.O. Zimmer, this orthopedics giant managed to make the biggest news in the ortho space with the April 2014 announcement that it would acquire crosstown rival Biomet for $14 billion. Although it eventually took 14 months to the day to consummate, the deal united two of the largest ortho players, with former Zimmer chief David Dvorak taking the helm at Zimmer Biomet.
