Firsthand Technology touts itself as pioneering the use of virtual reality for pain relief and control. It says its technology has been shown to have pain reductions of 60-70% during treatment that lasted 48 hours.
Firsthand makes 3D games for therapy, research, education and business. Researchers from Firsthand have also used the technology for therapeutic uses and improving physical health and rehabilitation.
The company also wants to focus on using virtual reality as a substitute for prescription pain medications – a potential solution for America’s opioid addiction crisis.
