Victrex announced that it has appointed Jakob Sigurdsson as CEO-designate; he will gain the full title of CEO on Oct. 1. He is preceded by Dave Hummel who is retiring after 24 years as CEO.
Victrex makes high-performance polyaryletherketone (PAEK) as well as selected parts for gears and dental discs. It hopes to execute growth strategy with Sigurdsson’s appointment.
“I am delighted that Jakob has joined Victrex. With his track record of making markets and delivering growth, the board believes he is a strong fit for Victrex, as we focus on executing our polymer, forms and parts strategy over the coming years,” said Larry Pentz, chairman of Victrex.
Hummel plans to retire as CEO on Sept. 30 and will stay on the Board as an executive director until February 2018.
“Jakob joins Victrex at a good time for the business as we continue to perform well. I am greatly looking forward to working with Jakob over the coming months,” Hummel said.
Sigurdsson joins Victrex with over 20 years of experience in large companies like Rohm & Haas (part of Dow Chemical), Alefesca in Europe and Promens.
“It is a privilege to become the chief executive of such a highly regarded global company,” Sigurdsson said. “I look forward to executing on growth opportunities over the coming years for Victrex, as well as for our partners and customers.”
