NuPulseCV
The NuPulseCV intravascular ventricular assist system (iVAS) is a minimally invasive, long-term mechanical circulatory support device for pediatric patients with cardiac dysfunction, according to this Raleigh, N.C., company, another contest winner.
The NuPulseCV iVAS was designed to provide long-term support and assist a patient’s failing circulation. It underwent first-in-human implantation in six adult patients at the University of Chicago in 2016. This novel system is inserted into the left subclavian artery, just below the collarbone, through a small incision. This approach could reduce pain and dramatically shorten rehabilitation, according to an article about the trial.
