12. Hill-Rom wearable helps clear airways

The Monarch airway clearance system vest by Hill-Rom is designed to help clear a user’s airways while being active. Similar respiration systems require a user to be sitting or immobile.

The vest uses 8 pulmonary oscillating to generate targeted kinetic energy to a user’s lungs, according to the company. Mucus thins and airflow increases while mobilizing secretions from the airways.

Patients who have retained secretions, difficulty with secretion clearance or presence of atelectasis caused by mucus plugging can benefit from using the Monarch airway clearance system, according to Hill-Rom. It has been cleared for use on patients who are 15 years or older.

The wearable has a sportswear-inspired design and pendant control. It has Bluetooth connectivity, a rechargeable battery and 5 different colors to choose from.
