8. Kwabena Boahen
Kwabena Boahen is a current bioengineering professor at Stanford University who designed and created a silicon chip that could mimic the functions of the retina. He is also known as one of the pioneers of neuromorphic engineering, according to a Wikipedia profile.Boahen received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering in 1989 from Johns Hopkins University. He received his PhD in computation and neural system in 1997 from the California Institute of Technology.
