Inspiris Resilia aortic valve
Edwards Lifesciences
Edwards Lifesciences Inspiris Resilia aortic valve is designed for patients who have aortic heart valve disease and have been recommended to have valve replacement surgery.
The valve is made from bovine heart tissue that has been preserved by Edwards technology to reduce calcium build-up on the valve tissue while also allowing the valve to be stored dry. The technology blocks calcium from depositing on the tissue and prevents further exposure to glutaraldehyde, according to the company.
Unlike mechanical valves, the Inspiris valve typically doesn’t require a heart valve replacement patient to take blood thinners for a long period of time.
