nView Medical: Instant 3D imaging during surgery
Salt Lake City
Founded: 2013
Startup nView Medical says its low-dose surgical scanner uses AI-based image creation to provide instant 3D imaging during surgery. The goal is improved imagery speed and accuracy. The company was one of five National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids!” competition winners announced May 1.
“Reducing radiation dose in pediatric patients is of utmost importance to improve safety when caring for kids. It was also the added precision offered by the 3D technology that was important to our pediatric orthopedic surgeon judges,” said Kolaleh Eskandanian, VP and chief innovation officer at Children’s National Medical Center and principal investigator of NCC-PDI.
The company announced last year that it had raised $1.2 million in seed financing. It filed two 510(k) pre-submissions in January, according to nView Medical’s presentation at the NCC-PDI competition.
