Fe3 Medical: Transdermal patch to deliver iron
San Jose, Calif.
Fe3 Medical is the creator of a disposable transdermal patch to deliver iron through the skin. The patch is meant to allow patients to avoid the gastrointestinal side effects of oral supplements — side effects that can prevent people with conditions such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease or Crohn’s disease from receiving iron supplements.
A recent safety and tolerability study conducted on 40 healthy volunteers in Texas found no adverse effects and no scarring or long-term staining of the skin, according to the company. Medtech pioneer Mir Imran’s InCube Labs in San Jose developed and refined the Fe3 patch technology. Imran is chair of Fe3’s board. Mark Sieczkarek, a leader in the medical space for more than 35 years, is CEO.
