The AUTOLITH Touch System and AUTOLITH URO-Touch System from Northgate Technologies, Inc. are bipolar electro-hydraulic lithotripsy systems designed for effective fragmentation of urinary and biliary stones via natural body channels, laparoscopically or percutaneously. They safely uses bipolar electrical energy in saline to fragment stones using small flexible bipolar probes. These products are extremely easy to set up, understand, and use. They also require little to no special training. Unlike lasers, the wearing of special safety goggles is not required. The probes are very flexible and are able to work in very tight bend radii without damage to the endoscopic working channel. The probe tip of the small 1.9fr. probe is wrapped in stainless steel to prevent it from breaking down or fraying. This helps to reduce unwanted lateral energy transmission from occurring.
