Category: OR EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES

Sony Electronics HVO-4000MT

Why do you think readers were interested in learning more about the product?

Readers were interested in learning more about this product because it is the world’s first 4K 2D and 4K 3D medical video recorder, so it offers a lot of flexibility, along with enhanced clarity and greater depth of field. As the OR begins adopting a 4K workflow, they are seeking out the tools that will help provide an end-to-end 4K solution. The HVO-4000MT works seamlessly alongside many Sony and third-party products.

In addition, Sony has over thirty years of experience in the medical space, so they are a trusted source associated with leadership, quality and innovation.  Beyond medical, Sony is a leader in 4K technology in many other markets.

How does this product benefit the surgical team and aid in better outcomes?

This product has many features that benefit a surgical team. 4K video recording gives improved image quality and more detailed information. The HVO-4000MT enables 4K video recording and still images from endoscopic and laparoscopic camera systems. It can simultaneously record in 4K and HD, offering high resolution footage helpful for training, education, and patient records, while also providing lower resolution footage for easy playback on a PC. Video files can also be recorded simultaneously to internal and external media.

4K offers four times the resolution of HD, which allows surgeons and their teams to see a procedure or an image with more clarity than ever before. This increased level of resolution can give surgeons and their teams a better view the body, which in the end can help improve workflow and patient outcomes.

3D visualization is clinically proven to improve surgical accuracy, reduce procedure times and offers a greater sense of depth. It is already being used to help improve surgical procedures.  3D helps surgeons navigate through a procedure easily and also provides a more in-depth and immersive surgical training experience.

Coupling 4K with 3D makes for a beneficial combination that offers new levels of visualization to the medical field, from surgical applications to education and training. These new technologies allow for increased clarity, resolution, detail, and depth perception, resulting in more information and ultimately a better and more accurate look into the body — which helps medical professionals do their job more efficiently and effectively.

What technical innovations does the product encapsulate and apply to the OR?

The HVO-4000MT has 4K video recording, simultaneous 4K and HD recording, 4TB of internal storage ideal for 4K content, network compatibility for video transport in addition to 3D visualization.
