Category: TABLES & POSITIONING
Runner-Up: INNOVATIVE MEDICAL PRODUCTS DE MAYO V2 E KNEE POSITIONER
The De Mayo V2 E Knee Positioner is designed with both the surgeon and patient in mind. Besides its use as a standard knee positioner on top of the OR table, IMP’s positioner employs a patent-pending sterile extension arm that extends the knee positioner’s base plate off the end of the OR table, enabling the surgeon to stand between the patient’s legs for a straight line of sight to the surgical site. Surgeons no longer have to lean over the OR table when performing medial unicompartmental procedures. IMP is the first company in the marketplace to manufacture a sterile extension.

What sets this product apart from others available in the industry?
Besides the innovative benefits for the surgeon, the De Mayo V2 E Knee Positioner increases patient safety with new features to the knee positioner’s locking mechanisms. The system’s carriage has been fitted with a sliding bar, the Varus Tilt Control, that prevents a patient’s knee/leg from tilting laterally, regardless of patient height or weight. Patients stay solidly in place during the entire surgical procedure, while still allowing the surgeon to adjust the rotation, flexion and extension of the knee. The V2 E Knee Positioner also comes with an optional new handle on the carriage for ease of locking the boot.
How does this product benefit the surgical team and aid in better outcomes?
Besides increasing patient safety, the De Mayo V2 E Knee Positioner means less physical stress on the surgeon during surgical procedures, and because IMP has made the positioner lighter, without decreasing its positioning strength, hospital staff can easily disassemble the system’s carriage and transport and insert the equipment into a sterilizer, using IMP’s sterilizing/storage case. The IMP case meets and exceeds the weight standards of new hospital guidelines and is also conveniently stackable, saving on storage space, while helping to protect the equipment inside. Patient safety, less stress for the surgeon, and ease-of-use make for better outcomes for all involved.
