About the company: Founded in 2000 by a Boston-based entrepreneur and venture capitalist seeking an easier way to treat his young son’s newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes, Insulet develops the Omnipod wearable, automated insulin delivery patch system. As an alternative to traditional insulin delivery methods, the disposable Omnipod provides up to three days of non-stop insulin delivery without the need for needles. Insulet is also developing its Omnipod technology platform for the delivery of non-insulin, subcutaneous drugs across other therapeutic areas. The company’s current Omnipod on the market is the Omnipod Dash, but CEO Shacey Petrovic, who joined Insulet in 2015 and has been CEO since 2019, expects to launch the next-generation Omnipod 5 this year. –SW
