3M Unveils Latest Patient Warming Innovation With Launch of 3M Bair Hugger Multi-Position Upper Body Warming Blanket

October 26, 2016 By 3M

The preservation of a normal core temperature using forced-air warming systems is a safe, effective therapy that is associated with improved surgical outcomes. Certain surgical cases, however, are more difficult to warm due to the lack of available skin surface area resultant from challenging patient positions.

The 3M™ Bair Hugger™ Multi-position upper body warming blanket is engineered to address these warming dilemmas with its ability to bend and conform to the patient’s body while providing uniform temperatures to the patient. The multi-position upper body warming blanket is the latest innovation from a trusted brand – the 3M™ Bair Hugger™ Normothermia System. The blanket’s unique bendability was inspired by the clinical need to optimize patient coverage for a range of surgical procedures, and adapts to accommodate a wide range of surgical positions and procedures.

“The Bair Hugger development team draws inspiration from our customers’ need to protect their patients. The multi-position upper body warming blanket is a versatile blanket that can transform their ability to warm patients in a variety of positions and procedures,” says Melissa Bailey, 3M Technical Service Specialist.

The multi-position upper body blanket highlights a new air channel design and lower profile, but still includes all the features that customers’ expect from a Bair Hugger upper body blanket. These features include:

• Integrated tie strips and continuous adhesive strip can secure the blanket once placed
• Two resealable hose ports provide flexibility in positioning
• Material is soft, comfortable, lightweight, and radiolucent
• When deployed, the attached clear head drape and two neck vents keep warm air around
an intubated patient’s head and allow observation
