Medtronic reported it had 46 FDA approvals in the third quarter and 220 since January 2020. Asked to identify what products performed the best, Martha called its Micra AV leadless pacemaker, which received FDA approval at the start of last year, a “huge stand out” that’s grown sales by 75% in the U.S. and 64% globally.
Martha also noted that the compant’s Percept PC deep brain stimulation system — with the ability to capture and record brain signals — represents a massive leap for a neuromodulation business that had been losing market share. The neuro franchise is also being bolstered by the acquisition of Stimgenics, a company with a novel spinal cord stimulator technology, and the performance of InterStim, a sacral neuromodulation device that can improve bladder control.
