Angiotribe
The advances made across medicine from days gone by are incredible, not least in the treatment of damaged tissue, hemorrhage, blood management and more. This next device, an angiotribe, is a stark demonstration of just how far we’ve come.
Curator Anna Dhody demonstrates how the clamp-like device was used to deliver force to tissue containing a vessel in an effort to control hemorrhage, or excessive bleeding. Due to its size, the museum thought perhaps it was used in veterinary settings, but found no evidence of that, leading it to believe that the device was in fact used on humans.
It would appear that there were smaller versions of the device more tailored to humans, if that puts your mind at ease.
