Freudenberg Performance Materials: Polyurethane foams for wound care
Freudenberg Performance Materials is using MD&M East to tout several polyurethane foams for advanced would care:There’s a polyurethane foam with a direct layer of silicone coating, which prevents a dressing from sticking to a wound while adhering to healthy skin.
Freudenberg Performance Materials combined hydrophilic PU foams and hydroactive nonwovens for wound dressings. The multi-layer components with superabsorbent nonwovens increase the absorption and retention performance of wound dressings, according to the company.
There’s a new high-performance formulation based on MDI polyurethane. In wound dressings for chronic venous leg ulcers, the new MDI-based PU foam absorbs wound fluids in just a few seconds, according to the company. It also has a fluid retention capacity that is around 50% higher than that of TDI-based polyurethane foam and greater strength in its wet state.
