Myoscience’s technology uses cryoablation therapy to ablate signal-carrying members of the nerves which stops pain signals from traveling to the brain.

“Our technology effectively manages the temperature and duration of the application of the cold temperature to minimize, if any, damage to the surrounding tissue,” Cary Vance, CEO of Myoscience, said. “Most importantly, the iovera technology does not require any biochemicals to achieve the desired effect.  It relies only on the extracellular fluid in the body to form the necessary treatment zone, and the body’s response to cold to achieve the desired pain relief.

The device is able to treat several different nerves in the body for pain relief without the need for prescription opioids.
