6. Interventionville: Revolutionizing addiction medicine
Funding goal: $40,000
Total pledged: $2,771+
Deadline: Aug. 4
Interventionville is a virtual reality application that introduces patients to different forms of mutual help meetings and other addiction treatments.
The technology is a 3D, virtual reality program that helps make an experience more immersive to keep a user engaged with content they usually would not be interested in hearing. The application offers recovery coaching and online video chat to help patients determine whether pain medication post-surgery is becoming problematic or not. If a patient already has a dependence on pain medication, the program can help discuss strategies for relapse prevention and provide other recovery tools.
Interventionville offers a number of different simulation options including a doctor’s office, a school, hospital, church, beach and veterans’ club simulations.
