MINNETONKA, Minn., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — American
Medical Systems® (AMS) (Nasdaq:
AMMD), a leading provider of world-class devices and therapies
for male and female pelvic health, today announced the full U.S.
launch of its new Conceal™ Low Profile Reservoir, an
enhancement to the already market-leading AMS 700® three-piece
inflatable penile prosthesis for the treatment of erectile
dysfunction (ED).
The Conceal reservoir is compatible with all AMS 700 cylinder
and pump configurations and offers the flexibility of a
one-size-fits-all design that can accommodate 65-100ml of fluid,
based on the specific needs of each patient. The flatter,
low-profile design features the same great functionality and
reliability as the current spherical reservoir, and Conceal is
available with or without AMS’ InhibiZone® antibiotic
treatment.
In a highly successful limited launch, participating physicians
reported being very pleased and excited about Conceal. Dr Lawrence
Hakim from the Cleveland Clinic, Florida stated, “I am very
satisfied with the performance of the new Conceal Low Profile
Reservoir. In a single reservoir, I get all of the flexibility I
need and I fully expect it to become my go-to reservoir of choice.”
Real-world benefits noted by physicians in the limited launch of
Conceal included ease of placement, volume flexibility and
eliminating the need to size the reservoir.
AMS’ penile prosthetic solutions provide a permanent, surgical
option for men who are unsatisfied with the results from other ED
treatment options, such as oral medications, and have at least a 91
percent patient satisfaction rate. ED affects some 30 million men
in the United States and is often brought on by prostate cancer
treatment, diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease.
