Beaumont Machine (Batavia, Ohio) — a supplier of fast hole electrical discharge machines (EDM) — recently announced that it has updated its offerings with a new CNC wire-cut model — the S-EW3.
The S-EW3 is a 5-axis servo motor EDM combining compact space, approach control, corner control, auto threader and training software — all with a $69,900 price tag.
Optimum Machine Solutions designed the S-EW3, which is built by a Taiwan manufacturer of wire cutting machines.
Medical device manufacturing was one of the first markets to use EDM, according to Beaumont Machine officials. The company said in a shared statement: “Because there’s no straight line in the human body, EDM is ideal to perform contour cutting, shaping and high surface quality work, especially on hard medical materials such as titanium and cobalt chrome.”
