4. Noah Medical: $150 million (Surgical)
Noah Medical won FDA clearance for its Galaxy robotic-navigated bronchoscopy system a year after raising $150 million in a Series B round. The San Carlos, California-based device developer, however, is fighting a trade-secrets-related lawsuit from Johnson & Johnson’s Auris, where Noah Medical founder and CEO Jian Zhang used to work.
Following last year’s funding deal, Noah Medical opened two new California facilities: one for research and training facility in Sunnyvale, and the other for R&D in San Carlos.
“We envision a world in which next-generation medical robots help diagnose disease and treat patients early to ensure minimal hospital stays and quick recoveries,” Zhang said at the time. “These facilities are just the latest step in our journey towards that reality, and they will prove critical to the development and commercialization of our first platform.”
