BioElectronics Expands Clinical Research

February 28, 2013 By the Associated Press

BioElectronics Corporation (OTC PINK: BIEL), the maker of consumer medical devices for pain and healing, announces the initiation of a series of new clinical trials.

Hernia Study: Dr. Frederik Berrevoetk, Current President of the Belgian Section of Abdominal Wall Surgery at the University Hospital Ghent, Belgium is conducting a postoperative recovery study on bilateral inguinal hernia repair.  Hernia repair is common procedure with a relatively high risk of reoccurrence and chronic post-surgical pain. BioElectronics’ RecoveryRxT Surgical Recovery Therapy, with its known clinical effects of postoperative pain reduction, improved tensile strength, and accelerated healing, will prove to be very beneficial for patients undergoing this complex procedure.

Osteoarthritis Pain: This study at the University Hospital G. Martin, in Messina, Italy and will focus on knee pain caused by osteoarthritis.  Osteoarthritis is one of the most common musculoskeletal pain conditions and has continued to increase in prevalence in the last two decades. ActiPatch@ therapy reduces inflammation and is ideally suited to aid considerably in this condition.

Lower Back Pain: This study, being conducted at the University of Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, will add significant information on musculoskeletal pain conditions to our clinical data.

“We are extremely pleased to announce these new clinical trials since they are being conducted by leading clinical investigators in their respective fields,” commented Ian Rawe Ph.D., BioElectronics Director of Clinical Research. “All three clinical studies are randomized, double blind placebo controlled studies, and will be a major addition to our portfolio of clinical research.” These new studies are in addition to our other ongoing studies at the University of British Columbia on healing plantar fasciitis (heel pain), osteoprogenitor cell differentiation into bone for reconstructive surgery in Chicago, 3rd molar extraction dental study, now progressing with the new 3D facial imaging technology to quantitate post-surgical edema, at Tufts Dental School, venous stasis ulcers in Denmark, and chronic wound case studies in various locations.
