BMP Medical today announced that it is the 1st plastics injection molding company to meet MedAccred guidelines and receive accreditation from the industry-managed supply chain accreditation program.
MedAccred’s accreditation program was created to enhance medical device quality and improve patient safety, BMP Medical said. The program requires that companies meet process-specific technical audit criteria and incorporate industry standards and best practices, along with OEM requirements.
“We operate in a very competitive market and pride ourselves on being innovative and on being able to produce products which meet the most demanding quality control standards. MedAccred represents an evolution in the approach of OEMs towards quality control and the management of their supply chain. This accreditation is effectively the new industry quality standard for critical process manufacturing which we believe in the future all companies will be expected to attain. With this accreditation, BMP Medical has now succeeded in distinguishing itself as one of the first to meet that very high standard,” BMP Medical president Mike Faulkner said in a prepared statement.
Earlier this year, BMP Medical said it volunteered to support the pilot of MedAccred’s new AC8160 audit criteria for injection molding, and helped support the refinement of the audit criteria based on feedback from the pilot.
“I would like to recognize the commitment to MedAccred shown by the whole team at BMP Medical. They have supported the Plastics Task Group from its inception and should be very proud of the fact that they have now become the first injection molder in the world to meet the audit criteria,” Performance Review Institute COO Joseph Pinto said in prepared remarks.
