Macclesfield, UK-based Bodycote commissioned additional HIP capacity to service the development and processing of advanced materials. The company’s Greenville plant is a Nadcap-accredited site with several core OEM approvals. It features numerous vacuum furnaces, aluminum heat treatment, EDM and other capabilities to support additive manufacturing customers.
Bodycote’s Greenvile site serves medical customers in the Southeastern region, along with the aerospace, defense, power generation and general industrial spaces. The company operates the world’s largest network of HIP equipment, according to a news release. It has more than 50 HIP vessels of varying sizes in multiple locations. Processing capability can accommodate components nominally up to 6.5ft in diameter by 12ft high, and weighing over 30,000kg.
The company said its additional HIP capacity is now in full production, enabling it to address the rising demand for reliable additive manufacturing post-processing. Bodycote said the capacity is well situated near key customers and other company locations to simplify its supply chain and reduce transportation. This comes as part of the company’s effort to align resources to serve the North American market.
