Cadence recently celebrated its 35 year anniversary in contract manufacturing.
The company was founded in July 1985 under the name Specialty Blades by engineer Martin Lightsey. At the time, Cadence developed a computer numeric control (CNC) sharpening process that was precisely-controlled and featured multi-step grinding and honing sequences for high-performance custom-made blades.
For the last 35 years, Cadence has continued to provide customers with blades and needles while rapidly expanding technologies and services to include machining, tube fabrication, laser processing, metal stamping, finished device manufacturing and assembly and more.
Cadence currently employs approximately 500 people and is headquartered in Staunton, Va. It has since expanded into other locations in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.
