Adhesives company Chemence today announced the opening of the Chemence Center of Excellence, a research and development facility in Alpharetta, Ga.
The 30,000 ft2 building is home to a large team of Chemence’s scientists and engineers working on adhesive developments in the medical, electronics and other OEM industries. Its main lab is used to synthesize new materials and formulate new adhesives. Other areas of the lab serve specialized purposes, including:
- An analytical lab including GC-MS, DSC, HPLC, XRF and FTIR.
- A bulk materials testing room with universal tensile testers and drop impact tester.
- An environmental conditioning room with ovens, freezers, sterilization equipment and thermal chambers.
- An applications area with dispensing and curing equipment to mimic customer production lines.
“To meet aggressive growth targets for our medical and performance materials businesses, Chemence has been making significant investments into its technology team in recent years,” said company VP of technology Michael Pomykala in a news release. “We have an elite team of scientists and engineers working to drive innovation in our customers’ strategic markets. This world-class technology center now provides the environment and tools needed to help continue driving new, quality products to market.”
The company is planning a second phase that will house several corporate functions.
