Corindus announced the opening of its new headquarters this week. It’s moved to Newton, Massachusetts, for a space that’s more than twice as big.

The precision vascular robotics developer — a Siemens Healthineers subsidiary — boasts a new facility that totals 77,000 ft², compared to 35,000 ft² in the former headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The production area alone is tripling in size to 25,000 ft² and was designed to facilitate the flow of materials through the building. The 6,000 ft² R&D space is also three times larger than the previous headquarters, including a dedicated lab for remote robotic R&D activities and a model shop for quicker prototype machining and shorter development timelines.

The new headquarters will also serve as the global Center of Excellence for Siemens Healthineers endovascular robotic technologies, including development, manufacturing and administration, according to the company.

The facility has a larger lab space and new equipment and technology to help the company develop devices, said Corindus VP of Research and Development Per Bergman.

“The larger dedicated lab for research and development activities will enable our innovation teams to more effectively collaborate and scale our technology,” Bergman said in a news release yesterday. “Our new state-of-the-art cleanroom and a model shop will allow for quicker prototype machining and reduced development timelines.”

The new facility also has a Customer Experience Center simulating a robotic system in a hospital catheterization lab and control room that will include remote capabilities over various connections, the company said.

“Our new facility is a testament to the commitment Siemens Healthineers has made to metro Boston and Massachusetts as a hub for innovative talent,” EVP and Corindus head Wayne Markowitz said in the news release. “As we continue to advance our robotic-assisted platform, the new facility will support our mission to elevate the standard of care and increase access to cutting-edge treatment for coronary artery and neurovascular disease.”

Siemens Healthineers said it plans 14 more new offices and major facility expansions in the U.S.

Corindus took occupancy of the new building in January. See the space for yourself in the photo and video tour that follows.
