Jeffrey Brewer
President and CEO, Bigfoot Biomedical
A serial entrepreneur, Jeffrey Brewer made diabetes the focus of his energy after his son Sean, then 7, was diagnosed with the disease in 2002. He’s perhaps best known in the diabetes community for his time spent serving in the role of JDRF’s CEO from 2011 to 2014. He helped found Bigfoot in 2014 because he felt the medical device industry could do more to create automated insulin delivery – and provide diabetics with access to it.
“The problem with diabetes and insulin-requiring diabetes specifically is there’s too much data. There’s too much testing. There are too many graphs, too many calculations, too many decisions, too much planning, too much diabetes in a person’s life. It’s a chronic disease and has a really large footprint on a person’s life.”
