Royal Philips, a company who focuses on health technology, launched Philips Cares, a digital experience that leverages technology to help family caregivers be there for their aging loved ones.
The Philips Cares Aging & Caregiving service is a digital experience that creates a circle of trusted family members and friends to monitor their loved one’s wellbeing by receiving updates and notifications. Philips Lifeline personal alert service can also be managed via the digital service. Additionally, individuals can also press their Philips Lifeline personal alert button and connect with a care specialist that is available 24/7.
With the digital care circle, caregivers can stay informed and connected throughout the entire day, while worrying less about those they love most.
Currently, the Philips Lifeline offers services for over 7 million seniors with a network of over 2,500 hospitals, home health agencies, and senior living communities. With this network, the Philips Lifeline utilizes predicative analytics so professional caregivers can monitor, qualify, and assess if someone is at risk of emergency transport. The Philips Cares digital experience allows the entire care circle to transparently utilize these analytics and services that support aging loved ones.
“Whether you’re on the aging journey yourself or caring for a loved one, we all want to have peace of mind around getting older,” said Ripley Martin, General Manager for Philips Aging & Caregiving. “Philips Cares eases and enriches the aging experience for caregivers and seniors by providing them with access to always-on, supportive relationships across a care circle, enabling them to refocus their attention on the key moments that matter most.”
According to AARP, over 40 million Americans provide constant support and care to an individual each year, which can be exhausting and overwhelming. Additionally, half of these caregivers report high levels of stress. Connected technology can help ensure caregivers have constant insight on an individual and provide a sense of control through access to insights on a loved one’s health status.
The Philips Cares mobile app will be available for download on Apple and Google Play stores, as well as additional web browsers.
