3. Consulate General of Canada
The Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), part of the Government of Canada, is a network in 161 offices around the world and across Canada. Trade Commissioners provide Canadian business and innovation clients with practical advice, on-the-ground intelligence and connections to help them achieve their global goals. The Consulate General of Canada has a team of nine Trade Commissioners in the Consulate General of Boston that work along sector lines and manage the CTA. Its priorities align with what the New England region has to offer and where Canada has strengths: life sciences, IT (AI, clean tech, digital health), agriculture (including food tech), consumer and retail, aerospace and defence, robotics and ocean technologies. Trade Commissioners work with businesses in New England by making connections to Canada, driving value and innovation to the region.
Featured technologies: Myant and Perimeter
- Myant: Myant’s SKIIN Textile Computing platform puts technology like biometric sensors and actuators into everyday fabrics to create comfortable, washable smart fabrics that could be used to accurately detect signals from the body. SKIIN products bring together a number of wearable devices and connected technologies to a single platform to give users continuous access to their body’s data. The sensors can measure vitals ranging from heart rate and skin temperate to medication tracking and sleep quality. The SKIIN platform can also sense and respond to targeted therapy and personalized guidance as necessary. The platform allows for remote monitoring, remote diagnosis and better health and wellness.
- Perimeter: Perimeter’s OTIS platform is an optical tissue imaging system that gives clinicians the ability to visualize and evaluate subsurface tissue microstructures in real time and during clinical procedures. OTIS gives critical information when needed to help create better clinical accuracy, efficiency, cost savings and improved patient outcomes. It can be used in excised tissue assessment, biopsy assessment, tissue viability assessment for transplantation and tissue triaging selection for genomic-molecular studies and bio-banking.
