Featured technologies: Confirm Rx Insertable Cardiac Monitor, CardioMEMS HF System, Advisor HD Grid Mapping Catheter
- Confirm Rx Insertable Cardiac Monitor: Abbott’s Confirm Rx Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) is a smartphone compatible ICM designed to help physicians remotely identify cardiac arrhythmias. The devices provides patients a new way to monitor for abnormal heart rhythms while staying connected to their physician remotely and being able to engage in their health care. Once implanted, Confirm Rx continuously monitors heart rhythms to detect a range of cardiac arrhythmias, irregular heartbeats or atrial fibrillation. Data collected by the device is then securely transmitted to a patient’s physician via the mobile app on a schedule set by the clinic. The app also allows patients to record symptomatic events from their own smartphone.
- CardioMEMS HF System: For patients with heart failure, changes in the pressure of blood through your pulmonary artery (PA) can indicate worsening heart failure—even before patients notice symptoms such as shortness of breath or weight gain. The CardioMEMS HF System features a small pressure-sensing device that is implanted directly into the pulmonary artery. It sends information wirelessly to a doctor who can use the information to adjust medications and a patient’s treatment plan, if needed.
- Advisor HD Grid Mapping Catheter: For people battling complex arrhythmias, physicians may use cardiac ablation therapy to create lesions on the heart to disrupt the electrical pathways causing the erratic heart beats. To ensure the best ablation outcomes, physicians first need to identify which areas of the heart to target. Mapping catheters are critical to providing this insight — delivering an inside view of the heart so physicians can navigate cardiac anatomy to deliver more precise ablation therapy. Abbott’s Advisor HD Grid mapping catheter employs a new design that allows physicians to see things differently, capturing and analyzing data in a novel manner to create highly detailed maps of the heart that better differentiate healthy from unhealthy tissue.
