Fogarty Innovation recently announced that after several years of close collaboration, it is merging with the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.
The groups announced the merger during a special session at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in late October.
Fogarty Innovation (Mountain View, California) will continue to carry its name and mission, now serving as the West Coast innovation hub for New York–based CRF.
Fogarty Innovation is a nonprofit educational medtech incubator, and the Cardiovascular Research Foundation has centers of excellence to drive innovation in cardiovascular treatments.
“Over the past 17 years, Fogarty Innovation has demonstrated that our model of immersive support — through incubation, acceleration, education, and alliances — meaningfully increases the success of innovators in bringing new tools and therapies to clinicians and patients,” Fogarty Innovation CEO Andrew Cleeland said in a news release. “We are excited to join forces with CRF, as we can now scale that impact globally, giving entrepreneurs a larger stage, stronger resources, and a faster path to delivering transformative care.”
Said CRF CEO Dr. Juan Granada: “This move is not just a step forward; it is a bold move to lead the future. By uniting our strengths into a single, purpose-driven platform, we are shaping the development of transformative technologies that will redefine care and bring us closer to a more equitable health care system.”
Also on Oct. 27, Fogarty Innovation awarded former Farapulse CEO Allan Zingeler, former Farapulse VP of R&D Raju Viswanathan, and Boston Scientific CEO Michael Mahoney with the inaugural Thomas J. Fogarty Prize for the Farapulse pulsed-field ablation platform. Fogarty Innovation announced the finalists in early September.

Fogarty Innovation launched the new award and its $100,000 prize with support from the Linda and Mike Mussallem Foundation as part of Edwards Lifesciences CEO and Chair Mike Mussallem’s efforts to drive medtech innovation after retiring from the structural heart developer. Most recently, the Mussallem Foundation launched a congenital heart defect initiative in September.
