Contract manufacturer Forefront Medical Technology recently announced the global launch of a uniquely designed nasopharyngeal COVID-19 test swab.

The EzySwab was originally developed to support the need for COVID-19 test swabs in Forefront Medical’s home country of Singapore.

“We worked with a team at the National University of Singapore to develop and manufacture a product
that addressed a critical testing need in Singapore. We are now tooled at sufficient volume to support
needs around the world,” said company president Walter Tarca in a news release.

EzySwab’s patented design offers patients and caregivers the flexibility of biocompatible nylon for ease of nasopharyngeal insertion and a “safe break point” feature enabling quick transfer to a sample collection tube. Those two characteristics also minimize the risk of accidental breakage during the nasopharyngeal insertion procedure, according to Forefront Medical.
