The 53,000-square-foot nearshore site is in the Evolution Free Zone business park in Tacares de Grecia, Alajuela. The CDMO will focus on electromagnetic and biological sensors as well as microelectronics at the facility.
Equipped with ISO Class 8 cleanrooms, it will maintain automated and manual lines for subassemblies as well as finished hardware, to support medical device OEMs across surgical navigation, electrophysiology, diabetes management, drug delivery and cardiovascular therapies. That includes coil winding, cable assembly and precision device assembly.
“The opening of this new facility in Costa Rica represents an important milestone in our global manufacturing strategy,” Forj Chief Operations Officer Ward Sokoloski said in a statement. “Our customers are looking for greater flexibility, capacity, and supply chain resilience as they bring increasingly complex medical technologies to market.”
He later continued, “Costa Rica is more than an additional manufacturing location for Forj Medical.“It is an important extension of our integrated global network and gives our customers another strategic option for production while maintaining the quality, engineering rigor, and collaboration they expect from Forj Medical.”
Forj operates five other manufacturing facilities, located across North America, Singapore and Indonesia, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Costa Rica location has more than 50 employees, and the company said it plans to continue making hires in engineering, finance, manufacturing and logistics into 2027.
Forj announced the site’s leadership team in March 2026, including Alfredo González Arce as site director, Emilia Garnier as senior HR business partner and Ronny Orozco as facilities manager.
Formerly known as Intricon and Minnetronix, Forj offers early product engineering services through to commercialization scale-up.
