Freudenberg Medical (Beverly, Massachusetts) announced the recent promotion of Mark Ostwald into the corner office.

Ostwald was previously CTO of the business and part of its management board. He joined Freudenberg Medical in 2009, holding several leadership positions, including president of Europe, head of Minimally Invasive Solutions, and VP and GM of the Silicones Business Unit in California. He also helped establish the Kaiserslautern, Germany operation as managing director of Freudenberg Medical Europe.

Freudenberg Medical’s previous CEO Max Kley has been appointed CEO of a newly established Freudenberg business group for the fast-growing battery and fuel cell market. With more than 30 years of experience, the Freudenberg Group is positioning itself as a leader in the transition to carbon-neutral energy systems.

“I am honored to lead the company at this exciting time of growth,” Ostwald said in a news release. “Freudenberg Medical is a great company with innovation at its core. Working with our talented team, we will continue to push the envelope with new products and innovative technology to advance healthcare manufacturing and drive value for our customers.”

Kley described Ostwald as an ideal candidate to lead Freudenberg Medical into the next phase of rapid growth and global expansion. “His strong focus on customer needs, his experience in the medical device industry and his international background ensure that Freudenberg Medical will continue to be a driving force for innovation and quality in the global medical device and pharmaceutical industries.”

Freudenberg Medical has 11 manufacturing operations and more than 2,100 associates worldwide, offering precision-molded components and tubing to finished devices, drug coatings, composite catheter shafts, and hypotubes for minimally invasive, handheld, and catheter-based devices.
