Gemco Medical said it has added a new brand of advanced wound-care products.
The Gemcore360˚ line was designed to maintain a moist wound environment, address bioburden, reduce pain, minimize friction and increase overall patient comfort, according to the Hudson Ohio-based company. It includes transparent thin films, alginate dressings, silver alginate dressings, hydrocolloid dressings, foam dressings, and PHMB foam dressings.
Diabetic foot ulcers remain among the most difficult wounds to heal and frequently lead to foot amputations. About 15% of people with diabetes develop foot ulcers, according to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Gemco began offering products for diabetic wounds 27 years ago.
“Our new wound care line is a great complement to the existing product lines we distribute,” said Gemco Medical VP and general manager Rich Keirn in a prepared statement. “The Gemcore360˚ brand was a natural fit and allows us to address our growing customer demands for affordable, high-quality supplies while focusing on positive patient outcomes.”
