GW Plastics (Bethel, Vt.) recently announced that it is expanding its operations at its advanced manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland.
The company plans to invest €6 million to grow its product development, precision tooling, thermoplastic and silicone injection molding and contract assembly capabilities. It also plans to expand molding operations to a scalable 28,000 sq. ft site in Sligo, Ireland.
GW Plastics established its European presence following the acquisition of Avenue Mould Solutions in 2017. The Ireland expansion, which is supported by the Irish government through IDA Ireland, will complement GW Plastics’s contract manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., Mexico and China.
“Avenue has brought to GW Plastics a highly skilled manufacturing workforce, an award-winning mold-building company and a growing medical device contract manufacturing business that has been successfully serving Ireland and the broader European market for over 30 years,” Brenan Riehl, GW Plastics’s president and CEO, said in a press release. “GW Plastics is delighted to build on Avenue’s success with this expansion, and we look forward to better serving our customers in Ireland and greater Europe.”
“Our ability to develop lasting relationships with our customers from all over the world and partner early in the development process to leverage our world-class engineering, tooling and highly-standardized global production capabilities allows us to offer innovative and cost-effective solutions,” Gerard Henn, general manager of Avenue Mould Solutions, said. “We are thrilled to continue growing these capabilities in Europe and offer more value to our customers.”
