The Melville, New York-based medical product supplier is the 11th-largest medical device company in the world, according to Medical Design & Outsourcing’s 2025 Medtech Big 100 ranking by revenue.
Since then, Henry Schein increased its annual sales by 4% to $13.2 billion for fiscal 2025, which ended on Dec. 27, 2025.
It was the company’s last full year under the leadership of CEO Stan Bergman, who announced in July 2025 that he would retire from the top spot but remain board chair. Bergman joined Henry Schein as chief financial officer in 1980 and became CEO in 1989.

Recruiting and retaining top talent — both at the executive and engineering level — is crucial in the medtech industry, but employee compensation is kept secret in most cases. Medical Design & Outsourcing tracks and analyzes these pay figures when disclosed by major device developers and manufacturers.

While he’s not included in the 2025 executive pay disclosure because he hadn’t yet joined the company, Lowery was hired with an annual base salary of $1.25 million and a target annual incentive bonus opportunity of at least $1.875 million, according to an SEC filing detailing his employment agreement.

Henry Schein’s median worker pay and CEO pay ratio
The SEC requires publicly traded companies to calculate the gap between CEO compensation and pay for its median employee.
To determine its median employee pay, Henry Schein used data as of Oct. 1, 2025. Its calculations excluded 1,050 employees from Chile, China, Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Mexico and Thailand. As of that date, and considering the exclusions, the company had approximately 10,200 U.S. employees and approximately 11,600 non-U.S. employees.
Using these figures, Henry Schein reported a total annual compensation for the median employee of $78,954 in fiscal 2025, up 3% from the previous year.
Against Bergman’s total compensation of more than $12 million in 2025, the ratio of CEO pay to median employee pay totaled 152 to 1. This ratio equals last year’s, which had significantly widened from 132:1 in 2023.
At other medtech companies that offer more details about their median workers than required by the SEC pay disclosure rules, those median medtech workers often hold technical roles such as device design or engineering.
Henry Schein investors will cast advisory “say-on-pay” votes on the company’s executive compensation practices at the May 21, 2026 annual meeting. Shareholders overwhelmingly voted in support of the company’s executive pay the year before.
