Life Spine, a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, announced that the company has successfully completed initial cases with the PLATEAU-Ti Spacer System.
PLATEAU-Ti is a titanium interbody system that features OSSEO-LOC, a surface treatment with 500-600 microns of porosity, which helps create an environment for potential bone growth. The variety of footprints available allow for the system to be utilized for both PLIF and TLIF procedures.
“The design of the PLATEAU-Ti has large graft windows and a bulleted tip, which allows for easy insertion for MIS cases,” according to Robert Hirschl, MD of Orlando Health in Gainesville, FL. “I prefer titanium implants over PEEK implants because it increases my confidence that fusion will occur.”
PLATEAU-Ti is scheduled for limited release in the second quarter of 2016, with full product release expected later in the year.
