The new add-on is designed to convert axial-only testing machines into biaxial systems that can simulate real-world use of multi-axis loading products. It is able to be added to new or existing Instron 5940 or 5960 series tabletop universal testing machines.
Instron’s new Torsion Add-On meets the axial and torsional control requirements of common standards such as ISO 11040-4, ISO 80369 and ASTM F543.
The hardware for the add-on is controlled by two TestProfiler method types in Bluehill Universal testing software. TestProfiler gives the system a simple method development with more intuitive controls of the axial and torsional drives. It is also designed for touch through a touchscreen operator dashboard that can be mounted directly on the test machine. A mounted operator dashboard allows laboratories to improve ergonomics and save as much as 55% of table space, according to Instron.
