HealthTrust, a healthcare group purchasing and total cost management solutions company has awarded Interrad Medical a contract for its SecurAcath catheter securement device. Effective November 12, 2013, the agreement makes the SecurAcath available to the more than 1,400 not-for-profit and for-profit acute care facility members served by HealthTrust.
The SecurAcath offers a low catheter dislodgement rate which will decrease catheter replacement costs. The SecurAcath increases efficiency by decreasing the time required to secure, maintain and remove catheters. The SecurAcath lasts the life of the catheter and does not need to be replaced weekly. The device design allows for improved catheter site cleaning and minimizes catheter movement which may reduce catheter-related infections. Finally, the SecurAcath is sutureless, therefore, eliminating the potential for costly needle stick injuries that can occur when suturing catheters.
