InVivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp. of Cambridge and The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Miami Project to Cure Paralysis said today they have a strategic research collaboration to develop novel treatments for spinal cord injuries by combining their therapeutic approaches.
InVivo uses spine treatment technology from Robert Langer’s laboratory at MIT. The partners will evaluate InVivo’s biopolymer devices with cellular therapies, including The Miami Project’s Schwann cell technologies. Schwann cells are found throughout the body’s peripheral nervous system and are essential for regenerating injured parts of that system.
