Jabil announced today that it plans to open a new factory in Gujarat, its second in India.
The expansion comes under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in November 2024 to explore long-term goals, opportunities and support in Gujarat.
St. Petersburg, Florida-based Jabil has more than 100 global facilities serving customers in the automotive, consumer electronics, medtech and pharma industries. Its medical device business includes orthopedics, surgical tools, robotics, in-vitro diagnostics, chronic disease management platforms like insulin pumps, and autoinjectors for GLP-1 drugs.
In addition to the new factory, Jabil signed a new MoU to explore the option of building a post-water fabrication silicon photonics facility that will incorporate advanced co-packaged optics capabilities. The company provides both prototyping and large-scale manufacturing services for photonics devices and systems. It says it can reduce time to market for photonics solutions in telecommunication, data communications, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
“We are proud to welcome Gujarat to the Jabil footprint, which totals over 100 sites in more than 25 countries worldwide. Today’s shifting business landscape has accelerated the need for enterprises to adapt to uncertainties and volatile market conditions. Given the diversity of our business and the connected systems powering our network of factories around the globe, this strategic expansion is an example of how Jabil is well positioned to navigate and implement solutions that best serve the needs of our customers,” said Matt Crowley, EVP, global business units at Jabil.
