Lanx, Inc. Announces Launch of Epicâ„¢ Anterior Thoracolumbar Plating System

February 15, 2011 By Bio-Medicine.Org

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Lanx, Inc., a
privately held medical device company focused on developing and
commercializing innovative devices for spinal surgery, today
announced the launch of its Epic™ Anterior Thoracolumbar
Plating System (Epic™ System) at the 2011 American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.

The Epic™ System is an anterior fixation device for use in
anterior thoracolumbar fusion procedures. The low-profile plate has
been designed for versatility and simplified placement with a
single-step cover plate to prevent screw back out and reduce
surgical steps involved with traditional anterior plating
procedures. The system includes lumbar and sacral plate options and
is available in a wide range of sizes to accommodate different
patient anatomies.

Dan Gladney, Lanx’ Chief Executive Officer, said, “The addition
of the Epic System further broadens our product suite to include an
anterior plating option.  It further reinforces Lanx’
commitment to offering surgeons technology that allows for simpler
spine solutions and the flexibility to treat a growing, diversified
patient population.”

“Epic provides strong anterior lumbar plate fixation. Simple and
intuitive, the design provides application flexibility without
compromising construct strength and stability.  Its
streamlined insertion minimizes operative
time. The single-step cover plate assures implant
integrity and provides the surgeon a confidently stabilized
segment,” said Dr. Randal Trecha, M.D., orthopedic surgeon,
Columbia Orthopaedic Group in Columbia, MO.

The Epic™ System is available to surgeons in the U.S. and
will be on display at the Lanx AAOS booth (# 843).

Lanx markets a full line of spine technologies, including its
flagship product, the Aspen™ Spinous Process Fixation System,
a minimally invasive non-pedicle, posterior fixation device d
