MedAccred recently announced that it has added plastics extrusion to its list of audit opportunities.
Companies that want accreditation from MedAccred can now audit plastics extrusion in addition to cable and harness, heat treating, plastics injection molding, printed circuit board assembly, sterilization and welding. The audit criteria is developed from leaders in the medical device industry who are members of the MedAccred program and who want to improve product quality and patient safety.
The new plastics extrusion accreditation covers tubing/profile, sheet, film, blown film, over-jacketing, co-extrusion and ram extrusion.
Sunlite Plastics (Germantown, Wisconsin.) was the first manufacturer to receive the plastics extrusion accreditation covering tubing/profile extrusion.
“I am very proud that PRI is able to support the growth of MedAccred and enable the medical device industry to strengthen the supply chain through this Accreditation. Credit must be given to the pioneers, like Sunlite Plastics, who step up to this rigorous evaluation of their systems, processes and industry best practices to achieve their MedAccred Accreditation from industry,” said Joe Pinto, executive VP and chief operating officer of the Performance Review Institute, which is responsible for administering MedAccred for the medical device industry.
