From products to help protect health care workers from
getting the flu, to a new high-tech device that destroys harmful bacteria and
prevents health care-acquired infections, Medline Industries, Inc. is
introducing a number of innovative solutions designed to improve worker and
staff safety at this week’s 39th Annual Association for Professionals in
Infection Control’s (APIC) Educational Conference & International Meeting
held in San Antonio, Texas.
“Preventing infections and improving the quality of care is
our number-one goal,” said Candace Smith, MPA, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice
president and chief nursing officer for Medline. “Through extensive customer
insights, research and new technologies, we have developed several new
solutions to help medical staff improve patient safety and outcomes.”
Among the new products Medline will introduce and
demonstrate at APIC this week are:
- IRiS™ — a mobile UV-C (high-intensity ultraviolet light) room
disinfection system that has been shown to dramatically reduce harmful
pathogens found on surfaces within health care settings. - BioMask™ — the
first-ever FDA cleared antiviral, antimicrobial medical face mask that is shown
to kill or inactivate 99.99 percent of laboratory tested flu viruses, including
H1N1, Avian flu and Swine flu. - Over-the-Head Personal Protection Gowns — provide quick and
easy donning and removal to help stay in proper gown compliance when time
constraints are an issue.
